England

England is one of the three countries (political divisions) that make up the island of Great Britain. The other two political divisions are Scotland to the north and Wales to the east. Together with Northern Ireland, they constitute the United Kingdom.

The Feast of St. George, in commemoration of a Christian saint by that name, is celebrated as an English national holiday on April 23 each year, since 1222. Saint George has been known as the patron saint of England since the 14th century.
