THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online, invites student poets and rappers to submit their unpublished works for the launch of THE BLACK COLLEGIAN’s Poetry Workshop.

“We have created a space where students can showcase their talents while gaining the exposure our national publication can provide,” said Kathy Dejoie.

According to Preston Edwards, Sr., CEO, “Since its inception in 1970, our magazine has received poetry submissions from students seeking exposure. We are pleased to provide this forum for them to get their works published by a reputable publication.”

While THE BLACK COLLEGIAN’s Poetry Workshop is launched as a department of THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online, the company plans to offer contests, cash prizes, and publication in the print magazine.

“It’s extremely exciting and encouraging for a writer to finally see his/her work published,” said Dejoie. “We share in their excitement, and encourage visitors to submit feedback and reviews, which will also be posted.”

Students should submit poems via email to afeditor@embarqmail.com, and may also include a photo and brief bio. Once a poem has been reviewed and uploaded to the site, the poet will receive an email notification.

THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online launched in November of 1995 and quickly became the premiere career, self-development, and job opportunity site for minority college students. Providing a wealth of information on study abroad programs, health and fitness, graduate/professionals schools, and internships/co-ops, the site lays the foundation for a smooth transition from college to career.

Both THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Magazine and THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online are published by New Orleans-based IMDiversity, Inc., which also produces the IMDiversity.com Multicultural Villages and Career Center. Post your resume with us today and let your dream job find you!
