Black Memorabilia and Collectible Show

Washington, DC (BlackNews.com) - The 24th Annual Greater
Washington, DC Area Black Memorabilia & Collectible Show will be
Saturday, April 12, 2008, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, 16
Chestnut Street, in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Show hours are 10 am to 7
pm. Admission is $6, and children 12 and under are admitted free. There
will be many vendors from across the United States with Black
memorabilia and collectibles for sale including historical artifacts and
documents, books, stamps, paintings, prints, textiles, autographs, toys,
dolls, advertisements, photos, art, political memorabilia, kitchen
collectibles, coins, movie posters, sports and entertainment
memorabilia, postcards, cookie jars and much more.
Educational exhibits at the show include slavery artifacts, Jim Crow
memorabilia, the Buffalo Soldiers and the Black Panther Party. Also,
there will be autograph sessions with Negro League baseball players and
Tuskegee Airmen. This is the largest Black memorabilia and collectible
show in the country, and it attracts major vendors and collectors alike.
This
show has been held annually in the Greater Washington, DC area since the
1980's. L. Johnson Promotions has hosted this event in Gaithersburg,
Maryland since 2001. There were over 100 vendors from 19 states and a
record number of attendees at the March 2007 show and the same level of
participation or greater is expected at the April 12, 2008 show.
There continues to be a strong interest in Black memorabilia and
nationally there are many individuals with significant collections. The
intent of this show is to provide an environment where the public can be
educated on the African American experience and Black memorabilia, and
where they can purchase desirable pieces of Black memorabilia and
collectibles. Purchases of Black memorabilia are considered a good
investment since the value of such items have continued to appreciate
over the years. It is expected that many attendees will travel from
across the country to be a participant in this unique educational event.
This is a showcase of the Black experience and an educational experience
on African American history for the whole family.
This is a show that you don't want to miss. There will be plenty
of good food and free parking. The show is indoors and will be held rain
or shine. The Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg is located
just outside the National Capitol Beltway I-495 and can be reached by
