evaluation, continuous performance improvement, and vigilant
system-wide communication, our caring is made visible daily by
our multidisciplinary team.
Diversity is the
cornerstone of our culture.
At
VCU Health System, our most important assets are not bricks and
mortar; they are our employees ... all 8,000+ of them. VCU
Health System is an organization that reflects the community it
is privileged to serve. Our employees represent a precise
snapshot of the diversity in our community. With such a range of
ages, ethnicities and lifestyles, VCUHS strives to meet each
employee’s needs – just like we tailor care to each individual
patient. We constantly develop new programs to meet our
employees where they need help. We listen to their concerns, and
we respond. No matter what position our employees are in, we
want to help our employees when, where and how they need it
most.
Complete Capability
Means Far-Reaching Opportunity.
Situated on five acres in the heart of revitalized downtown
Richmond, VCU Health System is Virginia’s largest public urban
research and doctoral institution and offers the full spectrum
of patient care services. The hospitals’ urban campus is home to
Virginia Commonwealth University’s Schools of Allied Health
Professionals, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy.
Together, they comprise one of the largest academic healthcare
centers in the United States.
Virtually every contemporary medical service is represented here
through nearly 100 specialty clinics and patient care centers,
many of national and international repute. Recent distinctions
for VCUHS include: achievement of prestigious Magnet recognition
(2006); four-time designation as a Working Mother
magazine’s “100 Best Companies” and three-time designee as the
Greater Richmond Area Employer of Choice. In addition, VCUHS is
distinguished as Central Virginia's only Level I Trauma Center,
the only academic medical center in Central Virginia and a
regional referral center for all of Virginia.
Clinical areas at VCUHS include 28 inpatient units, nine
intensive care units and numerous ambulatory care programs.
Fourteen specialty OR teams, a full-service home care program
and four areas of emergency service complete the continuum of
care. In addition to multidisciplinary centers for cancer,
cardiology, neurosciences and transplantation, VCUHS offers
services covering every other medical need as well, from
allergies, burns, and breast health to glaucoma, infertility,
nutrition, orthopedics, pediatrics and stroke. Our brand new,
367,000-square-foot, 15-level, state-of-the-art Critical Care
Hospital launches a new era in how seriously ill and injured
patients receive care in Central Virginia. And 232 adult patient
beds means our ratio of private to semi-private beds is 70
percent. The new facility also features new ORs and ICUs for
surgical trauma, neonatal, cardiac, neuroscience, medical
respiratory, oncology and burn center patients.
