The MFP's objective is to increase the knowledge of issues related to ethnic minority mental health and to improve the quality of mental health treatment delivered to ethnic minority populations. We do this by providing financial support and professional guidance to individuals pursuing doctoral degrees in psychology and neuroscience.

AAPA students (Doctoral candidates) are eligible to apply for the AAPA Dissertation Research Grant. Students applying should have completed and passed a Proposal hearing. AAPA Dissertation Research Grant Proposals should be for the initiation or completion of a dissertation, which has implications for the field of Asian American Psychology. A grant will be awarded to the student with the most outstanding research proposal. There will also be two honorable mentions; all three students will present their research in a symposium at the next AAPA convention. Deadline: May. Eligibility Criteria: Students eligible for the fellowship must be: Black/African American, Native American, Hispanic American, Alaskan, Native American or Pacific Islander; enrolled as a full-time matriculating undergraduate student; major in the biological or microbiological sciences; involved in a research experience or an independent project; and U.S. citizens or hold permanent visa status.
Additional Information: The fellowship encourages minority students to pursue careers or advanced degrees in the biological and microbiological sciences. The program provides an opportunity for students to participate in research projects at selected institutions and gain experience presenting the results of their research at a national or regional meeting. The Minority Undergraduate Research Fellowship provides: $2,500 stipend, up to $650 for round-trip travel to the institution, up to $850 for lodging, and up to $500 for supplies. The length of the program is two to three months.

This is an international program, in which both American citizens and foreign nationals may apply.
