This $3,500 scholarship is awarded to college graduates who are degree candidates in accredited library or law schools. The scholarship is based on financial need. Preference will be given to individuals with law library experience or interest.
Qualifications: Open to members of minority groups as defined by U.S. government guidelines.

Each year $3,000 is awarded to a law librarian who is interested it pursuing a law degree. Preference is given to these demonstrating an interest in government publications. Evidence of financial need must be submitted.
Qualifications: Must be a library school graduate working toward a degree at at accredited law school, with meaningful law library experience and no more than 36 semester credit hours remaining before qualifying for the law degree.

Formed to encourage racial and ethnic minority students to apply to law school, this program provides financial assistance to ensure that such students have an opportunity to attend law school for three years. The scholarship is based on financial need, community service, and academics and offers $5,000 in assistance per year. Renewable. Check Web Site for more information.
Qualifications: Must he an underrepresented ethnic minority student to qualify; undergraduate students must have a 2.5 GPA; graduate students must be entering their first year of law school.

ABF offers fellowships to encourage original research on law, the legal profession, and legal institutions. Applicants must be Ph.D. candidates in the social sciences. Fellows receive a stipend of $30,000 for 12 months. Fellowships are offered at the ABF offices in Chicago, and all Fellows are provided with personal computers and have access to the libraries of Northwestern University and the University of Chicago. See Web Site for application process. Qualifications: Proposed research must be in the general area of social approaches to law, the legal profession, or legal institutions. Minority students are especially encouraged to apply.

This scholarship is open to both women and men who are pursuing a BA or MBA in accounting or a Certificate of Accounting. Applications may he made through local chapters of ASWA, which can he found on the Web site. Selection is based on academics and financial need. Scholarships range from $1,500 to $4,500.
Qualifications: Students who have completed a minimum of 60 semester credit hours with a major in accounting may submit 5 completed applications to a local ASWA chapter.

The Consortium, a 14-university alliance designed to hasten the entry of minorities into managerial positions in business, seeks college trained minorities, including Hispanics, for graduate fellowships. The merit-based fellowships offer full tuition for two years of full-time MBA study at one to the 14 schools: University of California at Berkeley, Indiana University at Bloomington, University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, New York University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Rochester, University of Southern California, University of Texas at Austin, University of Virginia, Washington University in St. Louis, University of Wisconsin at Madison, Dartmouth College, Emory University, and Carnegie Mellon University. Florida Minority Participation in Legal Education Program Law Scholarship

The program is intended to increase minority enrollment at the state's law schools. Applicants must intend to sit for the Florida bar examination upon graduation from law school and to practice law in the State for a period of time equal to the interval in which the student received assistance from the program. The scholarships are for full-time students and provide up to $21,000 for each of three academic years at participating schools.
Qualifications: Applicants must be U.S. citizens and Florida residents who are members of historically disadvantaged minority groups and underrepresented in the membership of the Florida bar. Must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

This year marks the ninth annual Fredrikson & Byron Foundation Minority Scholarship program for first-year law students. The law firm, located in downtown Minneapolis, also offers internships for scholar­ship recipients who have completed their second year of law school. The purposes of the program are to promote the legal training of minority lawyers and to encourage them to join major law firms. The Hispanic Scholarship Fund, together with the American Association to Hispanic Certified Public Accountants; an organization dedicated to the advancement of Hispanics in the accounting profession, provides scholarships for undergraduate and graduate college students pursuing degrees in accounting or finance-related fields. Students who have demonstrated an interest in accounting are encouraged to apply for the scholarships, which range from $1,000 to $5,000 and are awarded primarily oil the basis to academic achievement financial need, and community involvement See the AAHCPA Web Site for an application.

The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund awards several law school scholarships, ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, to Hispanic students in their first, second, or third year of law school. Applications may be obtained online.
