Built by Vietnamese American C.N. Le, the site has won many
well-deserved kudos for the comprehensive scope of its content as well
as its attractive design; a homespun site created part-time while Le
performs doctoral work in Sociology, Asian-Nation is
both slicker and more substantive than many "professional," commercial
Asian American sites with much deeper pockets.
While many of the site features are excellent, among the most notable
destinations you'll want to visit are the "Vietnam
Then and Now" section -- which blends historical, statistical, and
personal approaches -- and "Contemporary
Issues," providing informed commentaries on many topical issues in
the community that deserve to be more widely addressed. The site
is also a stand-out for its thoughtful presentation of features on
problem topics that all-too-infrequently make it even into other
Asian-American media: Sections discussing Asian gangs, women's and
gender issues, and the "double or even triple jeopardy" faced by LGBT
Asian Americans because of their sexual preferences.
The Village editors can't recommend this site highly enough, so do
yourself a favor and make a visit to
C.N.'s site
today.
