Hack Back - Step-by-Step
|
|
1) Go to Overture.com to identify keyword searches
Using the Inventory tool, type in words such as "Chew" or "Asian"; or phrases such as "Chew Asian" to find the most popularly sought versions. Example: January 2005: Top searches with "Asian"
| 28272 | mr chew asian beaver |
| 15867 | asian beaver |
| 4733 | chew asian |
| 4183 | mr chew asian |
|
|
2) Copy a phrase such as "mr chew asian beaver" into an HTML document, add a hyperlink to a desired destination file, and publish it to a web site.
For example, to build a "Justice Bomb" that would return the favor by waylaying "Mr Chew-seekers" to this article, the format would be:
<a href="http://www.imdiversity.com/Villages/Asian/arts_culture_media/ikeda_hacking_ethnic_media_0904.asp">mr chew asian beaver</a>
3) Enlist like-minded cyberactivists to copy the link and post it exactly on their own web site or blog, preferably in a location at the top level of their folder system.
At this point, you have the basic ingredients for a simple Justice Bomb -- clumsy, but effective enough. You can just sit back and wait for the Google dance to begin under its own steam. However, for additional, umm, bang, there are a few more steps you take to raise the impact of your campaign and the range of search engines that will be affected.
4) USE KEYWORDS: In code meta-tags

Title: Mr Chew's Asian Beaver
Subtitle: Parental Warning! This Article Contains Discussions of a Mature Nature regarding How Asian Porn Sites Steal Traffic from Asian American and Ethnic Media through Hack Marketing.
Paragraph 1: Mr Chews Asian Beaver is a purveyor of Asian porn, sex videos and pictures that routinely employs unscrupulous "hack marketing" practices to exploit search engines and steal traffic away from legitimate ethnic businesses and media to exploit teen, adult, gay, lesbian, she-male, straight en, women, boys, girls of interracial, Filipino, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese and other Asian descent. This free article is a cooperative effort by a group of concerned Asians hot under the collar who decided to swing into action gang up and spank Mister Chew until he stops being a sneaky fuck head pain in the ass by fucking with search engines to steal our traffic like a big pussy. We're giving this boob our Asian thumbs down until he stops.
And if you found yourself here accidentally, by the way, you may among the hundreds and hundreds who can't spell Beaver or Asian when you type "bever" and "Aisan" hunting for mr chew asianbever.com.
7) Submit the link for indexing to Google and other search engines. At Google, use the link submission form to enter the URL of the destination article. http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl
URL: http://www.imdiversity.com/Villages/Asian/arts_culture_media/ikeda_hacking_ethnic_media_0904.asp
Comments: In the comments field, you might enter a brief phrase that describes the serious, legitimate nature of the destination article, while still incorporating the relevant keywords. For example:
"Article discussing problem of ethnic media's hack marketing by unscrupulous pornography businesses such as mr chew asian beaver"
8) Google the Real Mr Chews Asian Beaver, and use Internet Explorer or other browser and security software to add domains hosting MCAB pages to your blocking filters.
Tip: While researching sites on a Google results page, don't click on their links. To view the pages, click instead on the "Cached" link. This will give you a decent sense of the contents, while side-stepping things like pop-ups, cookies, some images and media, contributing to the site's direct traffic or generating click-through commissions.

9) Who Is registry: Find information about the registrar of MCAB-related sites, which in turn will lead you to information about the publisher.

In this case, the offender is "Virtual World Holdings AVV" based in Curaco. The address, phone number and so forth may or may not be bogus. If you determine that it is legitimately connected the business stealing your traffic, get together with a bunch of your pals with free Internet calling and dialer software to have launch a phone banking campaign to the number. The listed billing email address for is billing@eventuresnv.com.
10) Punish the Parents: Again, if a company spams you frequently, why not return the favor? Note that on the registration page above, you cannot copy the email address. That's because it is not actual text, but only an image of text. The reason the address is in this format, ironically, is to prevent spammers from using software that automatically harvests email addresses published on the Internet. In a sense, this may be a case of a spammer trying to keep from spamming itself!
As tempting as an eye-for-an-eye approach might be, I cannot recommend spamming; it's dirty, and can come back to haunt you both karmically and technically. That said, there would be a certain providential justice in simply publishing the email address (billing@eventuresnv.com) of a company that is known to be responsible for spam on a web site or two. With luck, maybe they'll harvest their own addresses and start filling up their own in-boxes with junk. You never know.
11) Sins of the Father: With a little checking up, eventuresnv.com appears to be an "online casino/gambling" business with at least a front in the Netherlands Antilles. Drilling down further, you and your fellow web ronin could repeat all of the above steps for the other sites published in connection with eventuresnv.com, including the miscellaneous webmasters whom they rope in by offering pay-per-click affiliations. Add their domains to your Google bomb list, your spam and block-up filters. If you use major public email services such as Yahoo Mail that include features allowing you to contribute to a spam-suspect database, add them. Remember: Every time they participate in waylaying someone looking for your site and getting them to click through to their own, they are monetarily rewarded.
