Asian American Village's Bestsellers for APA Heritage Month

Titles that other Villagers bought from Amazon

By AAV Staff

May 1, 2007 - As part of our routine maintenance at the Villages, the editors check in every so often at Amazon.com, where we've maintained -- a bit lazily, perhaps -- an Associates account since the early days of the site, somewhere back in 1998.  As any Associate knows, maintaining an account with Amazon is hardly likely to let a webmaster retire early, and we have never even built a "store" at the Village.  However, the great, truly valuable thing about Amazon from an editorial perspective is its detailed tracking tools, and the insight these provide into the interests and enthusiasms of our site visitors. We can see the kinds of books, toys, appliances, music and more that people enjoy (or, in some cases, don't enjoy and go on to return), and over the years that has given us great ideas for review and article topics.

It was a coincidence that we were doing a spring cleaning in our account this April at the same time we were getting ready for the APA Heritage Month edition.  And perhaps for the first time, we really compiled and analyzed all the traffic, orders and sales reports dating all the way back to 1998, and were able to comes up with the following list of the all-time best-selling titles we've ever linked up to from the Village (or, in a few cases, never linked up to).

We're not sure what else to say about it, except that among thousands and thousands of products purchased, the following is the shortlist of those items that apparently many, many people repeatedly found interesting enough to purchase -- over a span of years -- and not return. Since we are constantly being asked for recommendations for books, educational materials, and the like -- especially around Asian Pacific American Heritage Month -- the editors decided to share the list of what other Villagers liked for this year's APA Month edition.
