Top 100 Employers: “A Spark of Hope” in Job Outlook
Diversity Employers
Magazine – formerly THE BLACK COLLEGIAN – Launches with Top 100
Employers for Class of 2011
NEW ORLEANS, LA– (3/17/11)–Following the gloomy economic and employment news of the past few years, the job outlook for the Class of 2011 offers “a spark of hope,” according to employment research and hiring survey results appearing in the Premier Issue of Diversity Employers Magazine. In the Top 100 Employers List and Majors in Demand – an annual survey by IMDiversity, Inc. to determine the most active recruiters of college seniors for entry-level jobs – more than 120 employers projected making more than 8,432 campus recruitment visits and some 87,221 hires this year. Representing a modest uptick in hiring plans since last year, the results held some good news for jobseekers at the bachelor’s level, in particular. At the top of the Top 100 Employers List for the second year in a row are Enterprise Rent-A-Car, projecting 8,500 hires and Verizon Wireless, projecting 8,050. Both employers’ projections were well above those from last year’s survey. Like many others on the list, however, both companies also projected somewhat limited campus visits compared with some past years, and few or no Master’s-level positions to be filled. The top 20 employers on the Top 100 Employers list are: Enterprise Rent-A-Car – 8,500, Verizon Wireless – 8,050, AmeriCorps VISTA – 6,000, BAE Systems – 4,500, Hertz Corporation – 4,200, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP – 3,785, Kaiser Permanente and Waste Management Inc. projecting 3,500 each, Deloitte – 3,200, Target – 2,715, Ernst & Young – 2,270, Walgreens – 2,268, KPMG – 2,000, Department of State – 2,000, City Year, Inc. – 1,574, Intel Corporation and National Security Agency – 1,500 each, Lockheed Martin – 1,470, GE – 1,175, and Accenture -- 1,132.
